Hi, I’m Steve Higham: Founder of Slow Coach Consulting™
An Opportunity to Influence
The term ‘slow coach’ has its roots in the UK, referring to someone who moves slowly. As a child, I was often labelled this way, distracted by my curiosity. That trait remains with me today, inspiring my belief that coaching takes time and patience - a counterintuitive idea in a fast-paced world.
Curiosity and courage are two of my character strengths. I consider myself a tragic sports enthusiast, a lifelong learner of the mind’s workings, a dedicated educator, and an inquisitive leader. My professional journey has shaped my understanding of what capacity building truly means. I subscribe to the theory that coaching - though often underutilised - can drive better outcomes than any other leadership style or methodology.
It saddens me that it took so long for coaching to be recognised as a key leadership style and for me to fully embrace being coached. I am passionate about building capacity one person at a time, and the successes of those I have coached speak to the impact of this process.
As the founder of Slow Coach Consulting™, I am committed to helping individuals and organisations thrive through mindful, intentional coaching.
We have four key beliefs about learning – that it is personal, social, a process and happens in real life – and we infuse these beliefs throughout the wide array of learning and development opportunities within Slow Coach Consulting™.
We connect, we discover and we both grow. Whether rethinking your purpose and values, designing your strategy, shaping your culture, aligning your leaders and people or putting in place execution plans, we start with questions.
